Hello Tech,
I am a Lucent Tech. I was a dispathed on a Comdial G0816 and 6 of the 8024's are not working after a storm
Tried to reboot but no help. I am thinking that possibly the ports are silent. Is there a programming procedure that I can perform to recapture those silent ports? Like I said I am not familiar with this switch. Also is there a manuel and a set guide out there to this system

Thanks
LDancer

So two of the phones still work? Try plugging in a working phone into the port of one of the phones that is dead to confirm the problem is on the switch side. Comdial DSUs don't have a "silent" port option. You can try doing a system/station default procedure; pm me if you need assistance. If 6 of phones still don't come up at all then the DSU was likely damaged by a surge. Is the red status light on the side of the switch lit steady? If the red status light is off or blinking, the DSU definately needs service.

Thank you for the quick response!
Yes, I did take one of the working phones and plug it into of the on dead ports and it didn't come up. The red status light on the KSU is a solid red. I found a mauuel on-line. There is a station/system default procedure (code 50).Is this what your are referring to?. If this isn't correct, please guide me through and I will confirm with the manuel. I think stas.10-15 are the stations that are down.

The problem you will have trying to program or even default the stations is that you need station 10 or 12 to do it by phone, if 10-15 are dead then you will have to use VDT. To me it sounds like it's toast.

I believe Sundance can help, I just looked and it shows they have the GO 816 unit. If they reply that they can't then I'm sure someone will chime in.

O-yea click on the Sundance logo at the top of the page it will take you there.

It's a little odd that 6 ports are out and not a group of 8 or all 16. I know you mentioned storm damage so I suppose it's possible, but just for kicks you might try checking the amphenol connector for not being all the way in or any type of corrosion. Also did you test the ports at the 66 block with an adapter?
Anyway, if Sundance can't help give me a ping.

Thank you for your responce Mark. I assume that each station is assigned to a pair. I will do a test at 66 block. I notice that when I swapped working phone (8024) the back led light came on but no display activity. I also notice that when I first arrived, the dead phones did display the the time, but couldn't draw dial tone. When I reset the KSU, the display never came back in on the dead phones. I am kinda leaning towards what Russ said that it's TOAST.
What do you think?

If it were a nice brand-new system, I would consider trying to have it repaired. Given the age of the system and the availability of replacements, just put in a replacement.
Even if you managed to get the ports to come back up, it is not unlikely that the lightning damaged more than just those stations (i.e. slightly scrambled software, a flukey power supply, etc...).
