Walgreen's locally had a sale on SanDisk 512mb Compact Flash cards at $12.95 each. They were not the Type II cards.
Check your Sunday Paper and see if there is a similar sale nearby. Couldn't pass those up!

Really??!! I will definitely look into that. Was it in last Sunday's paper (and was it good all week)??
Thanks for the tip! Hopefully they have some left. Luckily there's a Walgreens on every corner, so I probably have a pretty good chance of finding one that has some in stock.

Mark,
If you still have the two different cards (regular CF and the CF II), would you be willing to try both, and see if you can notice a difference between the two?
The problem didn't happen when calling in from my cell (weird, since my Nextel puts out pretty long DTMF).
The problem happened from the handset of a DX80 phone (and of course from speakerphone, but that could be for a different reason).
I initially thought it went away when using Mute, but I disproved that.
The problem was random, as mentioned in my previous post. Out of about 5 tries, I got it to happen about 3 times. To do that, I simply logged into a box, then hit #, then went back in. I also noticed it when pressing 3 for Options Menu, but the # key seemed to have the most negative affect.
I tried tweaking Dialing Ratio, VM Dialing Ratio, and tried using and tweaking Interdigit and Playback Delay in VM.CFG. None of them changed much. The Playback Delay had ZERO effect.
Comical Tech Support spent more time arguing that this could be why they stopped supporting the flash utility than they did trying to help me. I even tried to suggest that "what if this was just a problem I called in on, without saying that I just replaced my CF card?" How would you try to help me?" To that I got more argument. They ended up telling me to try tweaking Dialing Ratio, VM Dialing Ratio, and Inter Digit in VM.CFG.
Anyway, I don't have a system to test on, and I don't currently have anymore new CF and CFII cards. If you don't mind trying it out, I'd appreciate it. If the faster card ends up having the problem, or more so, then I'll go back and change it out.
Thanks!

I can try it out here now that the office is closed. PM instructions on what eggzactly you want me to do and I'll do it on both cards. Mark

One crazy question..at the top of the thread you said you were able to pull the pertinent files off of a corrupted CF card. Are you using those or did you use the rebuild utility?

Good question & good possibility. All that went back onto the new card, that I started by using the CF utility on, were the .DVM files and the contents of the M directory. Everything else was new.
If Mark can't get it to happen, I'll zip up those files and see if it happens with those files in place.
By the way, FW on the DX80 is A33.

They had CD's and other storage media on sale, but no CF shown in their ad. If I can't get that price online, I might just ask you if you'll do a little shopping for me. That's a darn good price!

Check your Sunday sales paper for Best Buy. Last Sunday they were going for $19.99. I bought one off Ebay for $6 plus $9 ship and handle. It was a Chinese no name brand but worked just fine. I bought it as a test to see if the cheap offshore cards would work.
