I'm scratching my head on this one - I have a customer with an Executech 0816x and 3508 sets. Line 1 will not go on hold on any of the sets. Lines 2-4 will go on hold on all sets. Any ideas?
Thanks, Bill

Possible low loop current. But those phones have a history of failing key pad buttons, if this description is coming from the user, I'd go test it myself. You might just have 1 or 2 bad keypads. Mark

Mark, I did test it myself. It is just as I described. It just seems odd that only line 1 will not go on hold. I guess it is possible the port is bad, but you can make and receive calls ok - just can't put them on hold. I haven't tested the loop current, however the customer is only about 1/4 mile from CO.
Thx, Bill

BillyBob:
Has anybody been messing with CO line programming? Check and make sure that all of the lines are set in programming as CO/PBX and not "AUX" or "Paging" ports. The older systems allowed you to designate CO ports for access to external systems and when doing so, all toll restrictions were removed. In addition, the use of speed dialing and the hold function was also disabled on those ports. Incoming and outgoing call functions were not affected.

Good catch Ed that's right about the aux setting. I suppose also it could be a bad port, that's easy enough to test out. Mark

Ed- you were right. I programmed the line for 'telco' and the hold feature returned. It has been a long time since I programmed an Executech and I didn't think about the line being programmed for something other than a telco line. I downloaded the manual and it doesn't make reference to losing hold, speed dialing, etc. if the line is not programmed for CO so I didn't think to look for that.
Thanks, Bill

Great. Glad to have helped. I learned about this the hard way myself!
