Hello. We have just installed a old Macrotel 816 KSU.We were trying to locate some info on this system concerning it's capabilities.
The system seems to be working well but obviously it has it's limits. 1) We have two CO lines and were hoping that the system would roll over from a busy line to an open line but the system doesn't do this, or we may be overlooking something within the programming of the system. We've been told that our telephone provider will have to initiate the roll over from line one to line two. Does anyone know of a fix? Or, is it even possible with this old system? We have one business line and one residential line, both of which are routed into our shop.
2)We have call waiting on the business line and when the incoming call alert is heard, we flash over and the first caller doesn't have music on hold. We press the hold button but it doesn't operate as it would if we were pressing hold and then switching to the second line. Is there an alternative. Obviously I am new with this and we are pleased with the initial function of the system but we are hoping to find a way to roll the calls over from one line to the other and also wanting to allow the call waiting to allow music for the caller on hold.
I hope I haven't confused anyone and I hope we can locate some good input from experienced individuals. We would appreciate any input very much.
Hope I haven't bored anyone [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
Thank you.

In order for your lines to roll your local co provider needs to put them in a hunt group then your system will roll.

You will not be able to give music on hold to call waiting, the system hold is the only way for the caller to hear MOH.

1 -you need 2 business lines with your main line hunting hunting to the second and both
lines appearing on your macrotel
2- hunting is provided from your telephone co.
3- with both lines on the telephone system
on hold customers will hear music on hold
preferably an commercial for your
motorcycle parts
3- the music on hold jack is an rca plug
on side of control unit is there is no
plug in it it will play a chime
4- if you need the call waiting for additional calls put in on line 2 /
but when you hook flash there will not be music but then you will have 2 lines and the call waiting to take orders
5- good luck

Yes if you don't have a music source in the External music source using a 1/8 inch mini phono plug you will hear either Green Sleeves or Home On The Rang depending on where dip switch 5 is set on the Main PCB.

Hello.Thank you for your time. I appreciate the responses greatly. The phone service company says that they will roll one line to the other but not from a business line to a residential line.We are in a rural area where competetion isn't an issue with the local phone company so we really get socked with a sizeable payment every month. We are currently out of pocket about 200.00 a month for DSL, one buisiness line, and one residential line. I was hoping to find some sort of device that would recognize one line as "off hook" and roll it over but I suppose I will have to dig a bit deeper for the second business line.
Music on hold isn't a real big issue simply because there isn't any cost involved. We do have a music source plugged in to the receptacle on the side of the unit and it works well.
Again I appreciate your input and hopefully we can locate an apparatus like I mentioned above. otherwise.....shell out the cash for another line. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com]
Thanks millions.

Sounds like you need to add dual redundancy to your co's, your dialtone is not leaking to the sideline & voltage needs to be adjusted. lol

200 a month for DSL! WOW that is really high. Is this DSL a business line and does it provide dial tone? If so you could use it for your second line for the parts store.

Yes, home on the range, very nice. The sound of the popsickle truck was my choice of the two. [Linked Image from sundance-communications.com] Then we decided that we wanted something a little more entertaining for our listeners. Wave files have been put together and works great for the music source.
Have a great evening.

The DSL is actually on the residential line.
Otherwise it would be another 50.00 for DSL on the busines line, plus additional cost for the business line. They really put the hurt to us. Otherwise we would simply add another business line and be done with it. We do have the splitter on the residential line with the DSL and it's used for the fax line. Even if we can locate a device that will seperate the data for the fax and send the voice to the PBX would be helpful. Then we can advertise both phone numbers for our customers to use. Is there such a device that will seperate data from voice in front of the PBX?

They call it a Auto Fax Switch and you can pick them up at the local office max, staples or store like that. Very easy to install.
