I've got some 7270 and 7271 voice mail boards here(the older board, not the Voicemail II) that all have the same problem; they'll start to boot, then give me this error:

"6311 error 5 initializing call-progress paramerers on line 2"

After which they go to a dos prompt and just sit there. I've tried 2 new flash cards as well as a new bios chip, as well as new ram chips. Any ideas?

I believe there is an authorized Comdial repair facility in Trenton Tn, they should be able to fix it for you. laugh

It looks as if it didn't come into a problem until it tried to initializing call-progress parameters on line 2, in other words it initializing call-progress parameters on line 1. (I'm guessing)
...something to do with line 2 or that group??? just a stab in the dark.

I agree with Mark. The Comdial factory-authorized repair facility in Trenton is pretty good. If they can't figure it out, it probably can't be fixed. You might want to call them directly (I think the name of the company is King).

I thought that too test-ok, but it gives me the same error even if the ribbon cable to the CPU board is disconnected, and only the power cable is left on.

A few seemingly simply simple things (often the simple ones are overlooked :
1) Have you tried a new ribbon cable?
2) Have you verified proper current from the power supply?
3) Are you using the same CPU with both boards? If so, have you tried a different one?
4) Have you verified the compatibility of the flash drives?
Are you able to single step through the boot sequence so that you can see exactly which line is giving you the error?

What does Comdial tech support have to say about the boot-up error?

Out of curiosity, what brand and size flash drives have you tried?

What are the default call-progress tone parameter values??
I think if it uses those--won't everything work OK??

We've sent an inquiry to Comdial, but I don't expect they'll be able to help. As far as flash cards, we currently use 512MB "Scandisk" cards; we've also used some orange and black ones called "memory king" or something (sorry, can't remember the name) that worked well and "Crucial" flash cards that were horrible about going bad a couple of months after getting out into the field.

I have had this happen now on two different voicemails. One was an older 7270 in a DX80 and the other was a 7270C in a DX120. Both have hard drives. One was a system that worked and was pulled out of service and now has the issue. Is there a solution for this?

Thanks
