After reading your last post and then checking your profile (which I should have done long ago), I need to back-track a little.
We don't typically give out that kind of information to end users or even end user admins. We especially don't normally suggest doing backups, master clears, etc. To end users. That would be like a computer tech suggesting to an end user to backup, format, and reload their server. Not something an end user or end user admin should take on. For this type of testing and procedures, I would HIGHLY recommend bringing in a qualified tech who is certified to work on the DSUII, or who has done these procedures numerous times in the past. There's plenty that can go wrong, and you may consider your phones too important to be doing this type of thing without proper training and experience.

Well, I didn't see your reply and warning before I left on Friday. And I came in on Sunday and spent a few hours with backups, master clears, and testing.
The good news is that I didn't break anything and the phone system is still working. The bad news is that I didn't make too much progress on the issue with Ext 11.
After a master clear, I made the following system changes: 1 set the voice mail port to 24. 2 set ext 18 hunt group to 24. 3 set RNA to 1 ring (so a call to ext 18 would forward to voicemail). 4 turned on Visual Voice support. 5 mapped a DSS on ext 11's phone to ext 18.
Then I called ext 18, and left a voicemail message. Ext 18's message waiting light was flashing and Ext 11's DSS button for Ext 18 was flashing.
I have a couple of unused stations connections on the DSU, so I am thinking about moving what is now ext 11 to ext 22 to eliminate this problem.
I understand your warning and the very real possibility that I could mess something up. But if you have any more ideas about where this problem could be coming from I would love to hear it. Thanks for your advice and concern so far. Andy

If you followed 5YC suggestions and still have the issue, then do change to another port. The only way that a message light will show on multiple sets is if DCD and central messaging is turned on. If you have the ability and program, connection to the debut will show what happens when MWL are lit although I believe the issue is the DSU. Kudos on your knowledge, skills and abilities for they are far above the end user and many techs.
