OK here's a stumper (at least for me).
We use IST Stutter tone for VM notification on users that have cordless phones. I now have some cordless phones that stutter all the time. Some extensions do not have VM or used to have VM and now don't. I know if a user manually turns the message light on (*03) then it would cause the stutter to happen.
But I can to the callback feature (*00) and it always calls the VM system? So my only way to figure out how to clear the stutter is:
1) If user has VM, delete the VM box. Recreate, leave a message, check the message and delete the message then the stutter tone will finally disappear. 2) If the extension doesn't have VM, then I have to create a VM, leave a message, check the message and delete the message then the stutter will disappear.
Anybody know of any other way to do this? Just seems like alot of unneeded steps.
Thanks, -David

In COS programming you should be able to turn off 'Message Wait Stutter Dial Tone.' Assign your phones that don't have voice mail a COS that doensn't use that feature.

#03 and Ext # of cordless will turn off message waiting without going through all the steps you mentioned.

OhioTelcom is right! But also change the phones class of service so they cannot activate message waiting, that should stop it from being set by anything but the voice-mail. Make sure the voice-mail ports are not in that class of service.

I agree with restricting a stations' capability to set it. I always do this, unless I can find a reason not to. Just be sure to put voicemail in a different class of service, so you don't end up preventing voicemail from setting the MWL.

Thanks guys, I hadn't really thought about assigning them to a different COS.
