On a FXII running 17D, I recently found a station port that showed no board association and therefore no available phone type in Station Programming in VMMI. It was a port that was between other ports that showed up and worked just fine. When I went to the block and connected the phone, it was dead.

Has anyone seen this before? I'm not sure if this is an actual dead port on the board, or if it's a database problem.

I know I could figure out which it was by swapping boards, and/or by bringing up the system Master-Cleared, but unfortunately at this point I can't bring the system or even swap the boards to find out. That's why I wanted to see if anyone had run across this before.

The line in Station Programming where it normally showed FXLDS-16 was just blank, kind of like how a virtual port would look. But then when I went down to phone type, it showed None, and had no other type available in the drop-down.

I know what you mean, but if that were the case then practically the whole column of options in Station Programming would be grayed out, and that's not the case here. Good thought, though.

By the way, I forgot to mention that I also tried defaulting the port, but nothing changed in regards to the problem, although the other settings for that port did go to default.

It is what others have called an orphaned port. If you look at the cabinet view of that card you will see that the card will only have 15 ports available and it will show say ports 1-7 then 9-16 with no port 8. The only way we have been able to get it back was by sending the database to tech support and they will work their magic and your port will be back. Swapping cards will not fix anything the database is corrupt.

I upgraded this system to 198 17F tonight, so following the upgrade, before restoring the database, I looked at this port in programming. No problems. The problem returned when I restored the database. I guess the database is corrupt. Now what?

Remove the card from programming that the port is on and apply the change, then add the board back.
You will have to reprogram everything on the card but not the whole switch.
