We have Comdial DX80 phones. One of our employees has decided that when they pick up the receiver, they want line one to be the default instead of line 4. How do I go about changing this? Thank you Tammy :bang:

That is not recommended as many times they pick up the phone to dial out they will accidently answer incoming calls.

Definitely what R.B.F. said. Many think the chances are far too small, but you would be surprised how often you can lift the handset at the exact moment an incoming call arrives. Instead of a dial tone, you hear silence....then, "hello????". This is a limitation of loop start lines, so to reduce this problem phone system manufactures decided that line groups begin calling out from 'right to left' or the last line in the system, working your way down to Line 1. If you absolutely MUST pick Line 1, you can refer to Feature 95 in your telephone user guide. There you can specify either a C.O. Line or C.O. Group selection to occur when the handset is lifted. Possible example: For a Line: F95 -> Press c.o. dir -> Dial 740 (Line 1) For a Line Group: F95 -> Press c.o. grp - > Dial 9

You could also change the trunk group sequence on a DX80 to pick first to last, or random, instead of last to first. BUT what Rather B Fishing and hacky said, you are opening them up to a lot of call collision possibilities.

Thank you for the feedback, I will give it a shot and relay the information to the owner. We only have 4 lines. Line 4 is our fax line which we typically make outgoing calls on. The owner of the company no longer wants to do that because so many people that have Caller I.D. call back on the fax line and it's becoming a nusance. Lines 2 and 3 belong to the other two employees at our location. Tammy
