We have about 5 phones on our system that are using the Comdial Executech 6714x. One phone went down and I located a 6414S Comdial Executech. I ran through the self-test procedure on the phone and it checked out. However, when I plug the phone into the jack the lights on the bottom are flashing red (3-4 lights are consantly flashing). I hear a dial tone but I cannot dial a phone number and it seems no key I hit is being recognized(ie., I don't hear any tone when I hit any keys on the phone).

Is this phone compatibale or do I need to look for only a 6714X. Thank you for the help. This forum looks like it has a lot of great information.

You can use a 66XX series phone, such as 6600, 6614 or 6620. Other than that, the station port needs to be reprogrammed to accept what Comdial referred to as a "3/8 line set". The 6414S can be used, but this will require technician-level programming in order for it to happen.

Yup. Phone compatibility issue from either a non-compatible phone or a port not programmed with the correct phone type, as Ed said.

Another late reply from me as usual smile . I just wanted to add that if you have a manual, look in chapter 3 and refer to Parameter 61 - Port Definition. There you can program station ports to accept 3/8 sets, Multiline sets (67xx), OPX boxes, etc. Otherwise, P.M. a mod and they may be able to help you out over the phone, for a modest fee.
