WANTED: Cheap of course. Looking for a cable locator, one with an induction coil so it can be used for power also. Just thought I'd give it a shot just in case one of y'all have one gathering dust. I've tried ebay, by time the bidding's done you could buy a new one. Thanks, Bill

Bill, are you talking about a locator like a Dynatel 573? I see some for less than $150 on ebay.

Yes, I'd have to look up the one you listed to see if it will do what I want. The ones I've seen on ebay that were complete (nothing missing) were much higher than that. I will check ebay again it's been a few weeks. I've found a couple pipe/cable locators fairly cheap, but no induction coil for power on those. I'd really want one locator for both. I was hoping someone on the board had one they wanted to get rid of, I know many of you have had good luck on ebay, but I'm not real comfortable dealing blind like that, even with their ratings. Ya know couple hundred, no big deal if it doesn't do what you want, or doesn't work, but much more I don't want to chance. Thank for the reply.

I picked up about five Dynatel 573's from BellSouth Surplus Sales a few years ago in Montgomery, AL. They used to send me an inventory list every month or so. We bought office equipment, office supplies, tools and material at CHEEEEP prices. I don't know if they are still around, but you might want to check them out.
------------------ Ed --------- How come there's always enough time to go back and fix it a second time?

Thanks Ed I'll give it a try. I could have had 3 for free if I wasn't so darn honest, the Qwest tech keeps leaving them in the alleys. Believe it or not he has lost a half dozen locators, he either doesn't know where he left them or leaves them sitting on the top or tool bind of his truck, than they're road kill.
