Hello everyone!

I am new to TT and would like to express my gratitude for allowing me to become part of the group. That said, I am currently a telecom engineer/consultant. Many clients have been asking me to get rid of their old systems. Anyone here experienced this? I mean I have unistalled many systems and donated them to a few of the schools in the Tampa bay area. But I would like to know if there is a market out there for this stuff. I suggested that they try an ad in the local paper or ebay to see if the have any luck but they rather not be bothered with it. Besides the cards and some parts, what else do you guys do with the rest?

Do a google search for "used phones" or "used telephones" or "used telephone equipment"-- you get the idea. There are thousands of places to buy and sell used equipment. Don't expect to make much on the stuff--there's alot of it out there, and those companies aren't going to give you much for a phone---when they have 50-60 of them sitting on their shelves for the last 2 years. Depending on what it is--sometimes it's easier to just toss it. First thing is to make a list of all equipment--Part number, manufacturer, etc. The section "Equipment for Sale" on this forum is the place to put it. Try that first. You may get some bites. You can also try to put it on E-bay--but there's a bit of work in doing that. Good Luck. I'll be looking in the "Equipment for Sale" section to see if you have any thing that I just gotta get.

As a company that repairs and sells refurbished telephones, I am hoping that I can give you some insight.
Selling out of service equipment is a lot like selling a used car. You can put in the leg work (via E-Bay) and get a little more. Or sell it to someone like me and get less.
The value of OOS equipement varies tremendously based on age and manufacturer.
For instance, the market is flooded with refurbished Norstar equipement, you will get less for that than, for instance, OOS InterTel phones, that cost an arm and a lege new so that people are always looking for refurbs. For us, especially with older systems, the primary value is the telephones themselves. That said, different refurb houses tend to focus on different manufacturers.
