I am researching the best way to expand our current DXP system to the building next door we just purchased.
One method would be to simply run a 50 pair cable between the DXP and the new building and treat it as part of the current system. My understanding is that alternatively I could install another DXP system in the new building and network the two DXP's together if I have DXNET cards in both and the same software running on both.
Forgive my ignorance on the topic but what wiring would need to run between the two DXP cabinets? Would both systems use the PRI I have coming in the existing DXP? What are the advantages and disadvantages of a networking two DXPs together versus running a 50 pair cable to the new building?

OK, thanks. I've contacted a few installers in our area listed on the site. The ones that have called or e-mailed back would rather sell us new phone systems so I'm trying to do my homework. I'd like to get another 2 years out of our current DXPs and this and other sites before buying new phone systems. I guess my question is more in regards to how DXNET works to see if it is a viable option. I'll keep looking for the answers. Hi,
If you can run a 50 pair then do that. To network the systems would be expensive and you would still need to run cable. Just my two cents. Also what CMDL-GUY said is correct. Get a Comdial dealer to do either solution it will save you time and problems in the long run. Good luck with the project.
