I have a Comdail dxp with 15c software and we have a Keyvoice light office voicemail. The system answers with the proper response then sends you to the correct ext and takes a message if you don't answer. The problem is that it will not light the message lights. looking at the line status screen when it should be going out to light the light you get the following, (in box 9996 dialin - tn msg waiting) it then goes to, (box 800 playing greeting) this will then continue over and over again. Any help would be appreceated..

Verify that the boxes have ,*3,X to turn message on and ,#3,X to turn off. Also in line information screen make sure the port that has outgoing calls allowed is working. (Usually last port of voice mail) Also make sure all the voicemail ports are programmed as voicemail ports in VMMI.

I would recommend you use the serial integration if they are using all digital and IST phones. It will not work with those old executech sets. Hopefully they don't use those. Good luck

What has changed on the system? Does the voicemail ports COS have message originate? If you are using IST ports in the DXP try to light a message light by dialing the code on a butt set from the voicemail port. If you can the problem is in the voicemail. If not the problem is in the DXP. Serial intergration may not be an option if you are using certain other applications such as hotel/motel.

My guess is that they are IVPC (digital) ports, and the port type on the DXP changed from IVPC card to digital phone, so it's no longer providing the correct splash tone to the voicemail (assuming the IVPC works similarly to the analog, in regards to the splash tone). Either that, or something changed in the initial box (800?), where it doesn't want to do anything when the line goes off hook. Make sure in Line Information that one port is setup for outgoing (if not using serial integration).

The VM has an available outbound port, takes it off hook and is waiting for dialtone. Since this is a comdial integration, it is waiting for a CP tone (DTMF 1). It's not getting it so it thinks it is call collision and drops to the main greeting (routing box) for that port to take the in-comming call.. Check your programming on the DXP and make sure that a) all the VM extensions are configured as VM ports. b) The extensions in the the comdial.lnk actually go to the ports you specified (i.e. 2001 is really VM port 1 etc...) c) If it is IVPC (ahhh!), you should be OK anyway. IVPC has a problem with CO tone detect, not internal. Plug a digital station into the line for the out bound VM port and see if you get a DTMF in yer ear when you take it off hook. If it is an analog card (Dialogic) do the same thing buy use a 2500 set. Either way, if you don't get a DTMF, it won't work and you need to examine your PBX programming for the VM tables. Oh.. And make sure your CP tones defined in the switch match those defined in VM (VM.CFG) i.e dialtone == DTMF 1, Ring == DTMF 4 ect...

Thanks for all, as it turns out several things were not 100 percent correct, the tech had not set up the ports in the voice mail to allow them to go out and turn on lights and the VM integration digits in the DXP were not changed when they installed the digital pack and the new software.. Problem corrected, Thanks again.
