when plugging in phones at each jack, (while adding phones to the system) another phone will be disconnected from a current call. i'm guessing the common equip is reconfiguring. but i still need to ask if this is normal behavior or do i have an issue here. stats are: unisyn T0616 using 1022S and 1122S comdial phones. thanks.

This is a 2-pair system. Do you have a manual??
Are you sure you've got the right pairs on the jacks in the right order and also the right pairs x-connected in the right order.
Normally most systems "including this one" don't "reconfigure" when you add a station to an already installed station port. Sounds like the wiring.
These systems are also sensitive to static and surges. If you wire a jack wrong---it's possible to do some damage to the port.
Let us know how it turns out.

Sounds like multiple jacks tied to individual ports from the KSU. That is a no no. One port to one phone set only.

yes have the manual. checked the wiring and only one phone on a station. all stations are working fine. when plugging any phone into (and also unplugging) the jack, any current call on other phones is dropped. the common equip is properly grounded to water pipe.
ok! just ran another test on this. plugging is no longer a problem. the initial phone unit was replaced (as of today) as it would not pickup any lines. with a different phone on that port/station, the calls are not dropping. thanks very much.

on the old Comdial Executech, ports are paired. Anything done to an even numbered extension will affect the corresponding odd numbered extension.
Had a client providing a deposition to an attorney over the phone, the lawyer recording it, it had to be one contiguous recording, no pauses/stops/breaks. I began to connect an added telephone set to a new office area, and three times in 5 minutes, I cut his call off.
Punching down to Ext 14 caused a surge on Ext 15(his), and it took one of the older guys at Comdial support to explain it to me.
it's all tip and ring

frank, you're exactly right! it was 14 causing 15 to drop calls. and then the next day the 1122s at #15 would fail to pickup any lines. exchanged with another 1122s and the problem went away. could i have damaged the 1122s phone unit? or was it just the position of the planets? thanks to all you guys...

All Comdial analog unitized KSU'S will do this due to power pairing of the stations. The only time this will not happen is when the Comdial proprietary analog phones are connected to the DXP via a DXAST board.
