Hey forum, I'm the new IT manager for a company with a comdial dx80 system. We need to change the main greeting when customers call in.. however no one has the password.. and unfortunatly i dont have a copy of the pc-dba software to admin from there.. is there a way to reset this password from the admin phone login default (feature #*)? I'm pretty new to these systems.. sounds like i need the supervisor password.. also, how can i tell what extension is the sup? is that the same as the attendant/operator?

I've tried contacting comdial and would call our installer.. but no one knows who that is.. lol

any help is MUCH appreciated

Thanks!

PCDBA won't do you any good. That only is used to program sets and phone system. If you're looking to change the greetings then you need to manipulate the mail system. The mail system can be administered through a PC but greetings can be changed from any set on your system.

Welcome to Sundance Tech-talk. welcome
You do not need pc-dba for the voicemail system, that is for the phone programming.
One mailbox should be an admin mailbox and have access to the greetings. If the default admin. mailbox is still there (70) you should be able to use that.

Then you need a comdial tech with the proper software to connect to the system and determine the password. We cannot release that voicemail software to non dealers. It is the responsibility of the purchasing company to maintain a record of the admin password. There is a comdial admin on this board who is based in SLC,UT. that could help you out for the cost of a service call. BTW there is no "reset", but a tech with the knoweledge and software can change it for you.

Russ can show you how to use keylink. But like me, we charge for our time. You should read the "comdial posting information" at the top of the comdial forum. We are not here to give away our time or trade.

Well yeah, i wasnt expecting you to give anything away.. just lookin for some hints.. we are actually looking to install a system in a new building before too long.. for about 150 new phones.. if i dont have a guy that can walk me through some crap from time to time and not nickel and dime me to death.. then why bother having them install the system in the first place? know what i mean? Im not going to pay somone to answer a 2 minute question.. anywho.. thanks for the vague and shadowy "hints" Mark K. I hope an IT guy gives you the same BS answers when your trying to setup a router or something.. lame. the rest of you thanks for real though.

Thanks!

Nothing shadowy or vague about my response. I outright reccommended that you call in someone who knows how to fix your trouble, and can teach you how to use the software. I also wanted you to know you should expect to pay for that service, weather it's remote by talking you through it or on site. Is that pretty clear now? Sorry about your attitude.
