I am new to the phone service industry but have a little experience. I have a customer with an Executech w/6706 phones. One of the phones started ringing very loudly on incoming calls. When the volume control was changed on the phone, it quit ringing all together. A replacement phone put in place also does not ring. I verified that this port is set to ring for both incoming lines. There are other phones on the system so there are others that ring so the call can be answered. Thanks for your help.

The switch on the bottom of the phone is a three position switch. The settings are "high", "low", and "off". It sounds like you pushed them one notch too far.

*EDIT. Should have read more slowly, you did indicate you tried a different set.

Since you have tried a different set, we should focus all attention on the programming and whether or not there is a problem with the port. When you said you made sure it was set to ring, you were referring to the settings under option 50 correct?

I checked all 3 positions on the phone set itself and I checked option 50. I unprogrammed and reprogrammed 50 just to make sure.

Does it ring on intercom? Does it function properly in all other respects? Does the incoming CO LED flash on incoming calls? Did you recently put a different line cord there? It requires a 2 pair (4 conductor) line cord.
