I am posting this in case anyone does a search looking for a similar solution.

Tonight's "adventure" began when I inadvertently fat fingered while reprogramming routing box 801 for nights - during night hours. (tonight

All I really wanted to do was change some routing.
The voice mail AND auto attendant stopped answering , and on top of that - tripped the ring on incoming calls to the A/A, so I couldn't even get in to restore anything.
Eventually I figured out that when I changed system time to 2 PM and rebooted, it started working and I was able to restore routing box 801.
Nobody likes that sinking feeling when you realize that something just stopped working - after hours... and this was a busy Doctor's office that relies heavily on A/A and UCD.
Anyway, I didn't realize it would behave that way .. and I hope that if someone runs into the same issue, this post will help.
1) Change time on DX 80
2) Reboot
3) Access VM
4) Restore Routing Box
5) Change time back on DX 80
6) Reboot
7) Test
8) Go home!
