We have a Key voicemail system not sure what version.
There are a few mailboxes that are setup 155, 197. you can add them in the admin program but they will never answer like they dont exist?? when you call it, it just goes to the AA.? has anyone ever heard of this? is there a file like the TRANS.txt file that i can lookup and see if those mailboxes are actually in the system? any help would be great! thanks in advance!!!!!

Check the mailbox attributes, what type of mbox? No transfer, blind ect. Also try setting up a DT Trace and watch the translations to see what is really happening at the transfer points. Is their an extension associated with the mailboxes?

RaulGVI,
Welcome to Tech Talk!
As I recall, I've run across a similar situation where the mailbox must have been "initialized", i.e. the mailbox owner has accessed the box via subscriber login at least once (and perhaps completed at least customizing their password and recording of their name), for the mailbox to accept and process calls. I do not recall in which Key Voice systems, or what versions, I had observed this behavior.
Good luck and please let us know if we can assist you further!

Nortel is the only product I've seen where the mailboxes won't function until initialized. Key Voice will work fine at default.

I have had to create extensions on the phone system using virtual stations or group intercoms before the mailboxes would completely work.

nah,
You were trying to access 'Phantom Mailboxes' from an extension, it won't allow you to access them directly, only transfer into them, that is why you were getting the 'AA' instead. The virtual stations are an okay workaround unless you need to add boards, or expansion in the future.

This thread is getting a bit stale, since the last post was on 7/14/08, and then the next one wasn't until 8/19/08. Still, since it's somewhat on track...
I've had a similar issue on Interchange machines. The issue that "nah" mentioned is definitely an issue, but I think a different issue than the one that started this thread. The way I've experienced the problem mentioned in the opening post is that you would create a box, but it wouldn't work. I think what I found was that I had to reboot or restart voicemail in order to get it to recognize the new boxes. Actually, maybe I had to do a scandbnt to get them recognized. I don't think I ever tried logging into them from the phone. If I did, they weren't accessible without doing the other mentioned things.
