I have a customer with a DX-80 with voicemail and the "boss" wants to have the option to have his calls forwarded to his cell phone instead of voicemail. This is a realty office and the secretary answers all the calls and sends to the appropriate agent's phone, if not in goes to vm and then vm notifies agent of message. The boss does not want anyone to know he is not in the office and wants a transparent transfer to his cell phone bypassing vmail. I am having a brain fart and need a little help!

Thanks!
Lighthouse Bill

get centrex from the the telco and use the centrex off site transfer feature, then she can do it live or you can set the VM to transfer it when he activates it. If you search off premises transfer here in the comdial forum you should find all you need to know.

I've run into quite a few customers that had that feature on the lines and didn't know it. Some CLECS package the features and you get 4 or 5 all "waived" as far as pricing.

Check to see if you can get a second dial tone by hitting the flash key when you're talking to someone.

On the DX80 would call forwarding external work for this situation?

It would. I had a customer with 3 extensions call forwarded to cell phones. It all worked very well--but remember---you use two lines when you do that---the incoming line and then the outgoing line. If its a small system (4 lines or so) then that puts too much of a strain on the lines--on a 4 line system--it cuts your lines in half when you have a call being transfered to a call forwarded phone.

But it works slick.

not to mention the drop in transmission levels. I've found it to be an unacceptable way to accomplish the objective.

You can usually fix the volume issue by moving the jumpers on the C.O. ports.
