Have a customer whose Interchange VM is occasionally (approx once every two weeks) not seeing the security key. It shows a "6408 key error" in the error logs. The key is not loose and does not appear that it is being bumped. Anyone had this issue? Parallel port going bad? Security key problem?

This sounds like the issue we would see on boot up after the nightly routine is ran. Where You have two software programs looking for the key at the same time. This may be your issue.
Comdial had a program called smart start. You would add this to the startup and have it start the programs with a time delay. Depending on your voicemail version it has a 2 minute ( I think ) delay built into it. If you are running Wide Open Office(WOO). This would be the program I would delay start.
