I bought a used 7270 card for Voicemail & Auto Attendant. It says 7270 instead of 7270C. I'm wondering if the missing 'C' means there's no Auto Attendant.
I was able to set voicemail but when incoming call comes, it doesn't pickup the greeting even though I have set it up using PC-DBA in extension setup. I recorded my greetings on routing box 800, 801 & 821 but none of 'em gets played. Instead, the call keeps ringing. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Mustafa

If it keeps ringing ex 101 or other phones, then the programming for ringing has not been set for the VM pilot number. What happens when you dial the pilot UCD Group number for the VM?

There are quite a few settings that need to be checked and possibly changed. It appears as if there are some programming changes that must be made---but I don't know what you have done, and what you haven't.

Thanks for the quick reply. The hunt group it is defaulted to is 24 and dir # 433. When I try to setup auto-attendant greetings from the phone (Prog manual Sec 6.35 AAM) I can't get to the display "AUTO_ATT NO:1". It acts (default beeps) as if the module is not even there. I am therefore wondering if 7270 only includes VM but not AAM, unlike 7270C which has both.

The programming you are referencing is for a 7240 Auto Attendant Module only. The 7270 is the first Hard Drive Voice Mail and did have auto attendant and voice mail but did not use that program parameters. The voice mail has its own programming procedures.

Thanks a lot. That information is very helpful. Now I know I have the right equipment, it must be the configuration issue.
Last night I tried several config changes but couldn't get it to work so removed the card. I'll put it back n see the response when I dial the pilot UCD Group number for the VM.

I replaced the 7270 with 7271 that has a Flash card. The auto attendent part works fine however, the voice mail doesn't work. When the call reaches the destination extension, it plays extension owner's name but then it keeps ringing, never plays the private greeting for the extension. When I get a live call and I attempt to transfer to voicemail by pressing 'VMail' button, the extension number, then press 'Transfer' button on the phone, it doesn't do anything and displays some '...Unavailable' message.
I do have PC-DBA working but I've not been able to get KeyLink to work. I'm wondering if there's missing configuration there that's causing the issue. After I attempt to connect, the application gives me som 'remote control error' message.

after you hit VM and the ext # you hang up, do not hit transfer. Your other problems are installer level programming issues. There are many comdial techs in your area who could fix you up and give you a lesson in supervisor programming.

The ring you're getting after the person's name plays is possibly the Message Monitor feature (similar to call screening on an answering machine). If that's the case, my guess is that the one you're experiencing this on has no greeting recorded, but only a name. Otherwise, it could be saying something like "Please hold while I transfer your call to Mary Jones". If that's the case, there is installer-level programming that needs attention, like Mark said.
