Is there any way to call an extension direct from an out side line?

Well 1 way if you have a dedicated line for it is to assign the ringing directly to an extension instead of a group in mmc 406.
Other ways a DID depending on which system you have but thats expensive for 1 phone
You could also use a auto attendant to allow callers to dial their own extensions.

MMC 714

Direct DID numbers on a PRI line. Purchase a block on numbers from your PRI line provider.

The PRI will sent down the last 4 digits of the phone number.

MMC 714. There will be a list of all the last 4 digits of the phone numbers. Then it will ask you which extension or group you want to send corresponding to the last 4 digits.

There is something that I don't understand about this MMC and maybe someone else here can help me out.

Why do you have to type the extension number twice. I mean there is like 2 places that you can put the routed extension. What is the purpose or reason for this?

Thanks.

I guess the real answer is
1 Which system do you have
2 What hardware do you have

I see this is more involved then some simple programming. I know for in fact that we do not have the proper equipment to get his done. Thanks for all your input.
