I had a question for wiring a Keyset daughterboard. Samsung Falcon KDB-DLI or Samsung Falcon KDB-SLI
I understand that it provides an additional line to a 18 or 28 button phone just by adding a base to the phone. Provided that you have a 8DLI card in the system( 2B+D)
My question is what type of wiring do you need to have? 1 pair or 2 pair ?
Thanks.

You only need 1 pair to the phone. If you want to run the daughterboard phone somewhere else then you would need a second pair to run it to where you want it.

Thanks for your response but I'm still a little confused.
The keyset needs 1 pair or 2 pairs of wires running from the phone jack into the phone closet?
I understand that you need a phone wire to run from the daughterboard which is attached to the first keyset to the second device but does the actually first phone which connects to the wall need 1 or 2 pairs?
In other words, if you open up the phone jack connected to the wall, are you having only 1 pair of wires connected or 2 pair of wires connected ?
Thanks.

You only need one pair per rj11 ie one pair to run the phone. the phone will run the other set, the only time you would use two pair is if you need to send the second phone ie 301 back to the demarc but then whats the purpose of the kdb right

OH and the kdb has its own port and does not replace the regular port on the phone I think that might be where you were getting confused ie the port on the kdb is out bound only the system does not plug into it

Ok, let me work with an example:
Lets say I have a regular Samsung Falcon 18 button phone and I buy an SLI keyset daughterboard.
The Daughterboard now provides me with 1 SLI extension from that phone. Lets say I plug that SLI extension into a fax machine.
In this situation, can I talk on that 18 button phone and sent a fax at the same time working with 1 pair going from the phone to the system?
My understanding is that the SLI daughterboard provides you with the equivalent an extra SLI port just like buying another SLI card. Is this not the case? Are you saying in this situation I can either use the phone OR the fax(but not both at the same time?)
Thanks.

You need 1 pair to the 18 button set.If you put the fax beside the set that's it.You only would need a second pair if you needed to wire the sli port back to another location.
