My client has a dsu II and a debut brick with digital ports. They say they are getting like 90 dead air messages, Is there anything I can look at I was thinking of the disconnect supervision but I don't think they are getting that many calls. The voice mail is holding onto the line cause they say they see line 1 or 2 with the red light staying on alot.

I still think it is due to the absence of the loop supervision signal. The system would drop the call if it was being supplied. It is very easy to test; just put a line on hold until the dial tone times out. If it doesn't drop after about 25 seconds, the signal just isn't there.

I agree that 90 messages sounds like a lot, but I've seen that happen at places where I didn't expect that quantity of calls too.

It does sound like loop supervision. However, who is getting the dead air messages?? Is it a GD MB?? Take a look at some MBs to see how many messages they all have sitting in there. It looks like you're going to have to do some troubleshooting here. Your going to have to isolate the problem. Make calls in to the VM either directly (intercom) and using a C.O. line. See if you can get the system to do what the customer says its doing.

Reseat the punchdowns for the digital ports, reseat the VM ports---reset the phone system and the VM. Can the Debut be defragged??

I'd start out with those procedures. The Debut may have reached the end of its life--it's got some years on it--but I wouldn't give up on it without doing alot of troubleshooting etc.

Some regular Comdial people will probably jump in here soon.

I couldn't find anything I called numerous times all trunks, hung up during ringing hung up during the announcement, hung up while recording a message and every time it disconnected me. Tried from a cell phone and a land line the system disconnected every time. What's happening is everything get's forward to 10's mailbox, if you stay on the line if you press a wrong key etc. if it continues I may just set it so you have to press 0 to leave a message in the general mailbox.

She said an employee called from a cell phone and it seemed to have been stuck in a loop so I don't know if a certain carrier is causing it.

I have worked on a couple of other digital system that did not have any problems with disconnect, however the third-party analog voice mail attached to the digital system did have problems with telco disconnect supervision.

Set it lower to see if that helps say 5 secs. My thoughts its waiting 10 secs before disconnecting.

I've also seen this if they are using an auto attendant. On the DSUII you had to set all the VM ports to ring and since only one gets the call when the other ports go off hook thy can end up in a loop that ends up leaving a blank message.
If that ends up being the case there were tech tips that addressed the set up.
