I want to assign direct dial numbers to a few extensions, but I'm abit confused by what MMC 714 is asking for. I'm using an iDCS100.

The manual says to enter a valid entry number, could someone explain what this is?

Is the DDI number one of the direct dial numbers I've been assigned?

Why would I want to delete any digits?

Well its kind of a long process so I will make it short and hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong. I have a question how many digits is the t1 sending to the system you need to know this.

1. This is what 714 is for the valid number is the number dailed and the digits sent to the system

2. The ddi is the same as did or direct inward dail and yes they were assigned by the telco on the t1

3. you might have to delete or add digits according to what they are sending from the telco and what you need to send outbound an example of this is least cost routing lets say I dail 1.888.777.7777 and you need to remove the 1.888 from the dtmf that is were this will take place and vis versa if the telco sends 1.888.777.7777 you may need to strip digits in order to get the ddi/did to the right location.

How do i find out how many digits are being sent to the system?

So when the system displays:

DID DIGIT (001)
DGT:

I enter the direct dial number after DGT, but what do I enter in place of (001)? Or do i just leave it as (001)? The manual uses (005) as an example.

The rest of the instructions in the manual seem pretty straight forward, but this first bit has stumpted me!

Just had a thought.

Is the 'entry number' a slot in the DDI Translation table where you want this information to be stored?

If so, how do i view the current contents of the Translation table to avoid overwriting a previous entry?

Call your T1 provider and ask them how many digits they are sending or it may be in the notes with the order

The 001 does not get replaced it is the entry number

The contents of the entry will be displayed next to the DGT if there is nothing there then no entry is present. You do have a t1 right?? is there a tepri card installed??

All are calls are justing coming down a normal phone line. Is mmc714 still the right one to use?

you cant do ddi on a pots line sorry

you can direct a line to ring a specific phone in mmc 406 and 601

Ok, sorry for the confusion, after reading mmc714 I assumed it could be used for an ISDN line and POTS.

mmc406 wants a trunk number, do i need to assign each of my direct dial numbers a trunk?

Is there a way to list trunk numbers and their associated diretc dial numbers?

Ok I think what you are saying is I want line one to ring ext 201 line two to ring 203 and the like, if this is correct you do not have DDI you have trunks that you want to redirect. In this case 701 is line 1 702 is line 2 and so on, at that point in mmc 406 you will select 701 or what ever the line is and redirect it to a ring group in the 500's or directly to a station in the 200's if you set it to ring a group you will need to go to mmc 600 to assign the stations to group 500 and mmc 601 to assign them in the remaining groups follow the instructions in the manual to achieve this.

Now please keep in mind you need to know what phone number is connected to what trunk

Yes, thats what I'm after. We've been allocated 50 numbers that we can use for direct dials they go from:

28610 > 28650

Some are already is use.

How do I find out what phone number is connected to what trunk?
