Hello everyone,
I have a Samsung DCS 50si with a SVMi-4 card that is having some problems. I appologize for the long post, but Im a detailed person.
The first sympton is when I dial the 529 extension to check voicemail, I hear one ring and then nothing. It seems like the SVMi-4 is answering, but fails to prompt me for my password. When I had this problem for the first time, I simply pressed the reset button on SVMi-4 card and when the card came back up, everthing was fine ... until a few hours later in the wee hours of the night, when it failed in the same fashion.
After reading through the SVMi-4 install manual, I decided to hook up my pc to the SVMi-4 serial port and use Hyper Termial to see if I can get some more useful info from the system.
I noticed when I reset the card, and it finishes booting, the status screen shows the status of the 4 ports as "Starting"
While troubleshooting the problem, Ive shut the system down several times hopeing to get some better results. About 1/4 out of the number of Power cycles that Ive done, the SVMi-4 would boot fine and the status screen would show "Idle" for 4 ports.
I would then be allowed the dial extension 529 a few times before it would crash. Then I would be back at the beginging ... A status of "Starting" for all four ports.
Ive gotten same results when using ext 223-226 instead of 529 which is my 4 ports on the SVMi-4 card.
And to wrap this up .. These problems started after making a few changes such as the Day/Night AA Times via MMC 507, The overflow time in MMC 600 to make the SVMi-4 AA answer in a shorter amount of time, and changed the employee names on a phone or two.
One more note: when the SVMi-4 card arrives at the status screen, I hear relays being switched which occurs 4 times over a period of about 10 seconds .. then stops for a few seoncds .. then does it 4 more times ... then stops ... and so on.
Thanks for any assisitance. Steve Maroney

Thanks for the tip. I will call Sumsung, but you say that the port statuses should go to "Idle". Well that seems to be the problem. When the card works, it goes to idle right away. But when the card doesn't work correctly after I reboot it, the port statuses stay stuck on "Starting" and it doesn't work until it say "Idle".
Also If I remeber correctly, when I manage to get the card back up and running (with a port status of idle) and I reproduce the problem ... the port statues go back to "Starting" with out rebooting.
Thanks, Steve

Make sure the iButton is seated correctly as well as in a 50 it must be a 4 port system.

Had this same problem years ago with a Cadence in a DCS 50. Cadence would answer but no prompts, dead air. Had to reset the whole system. Samsung thought it was a power issue, static or a ground issue.
