We have a fax number that has been ported along with our other numbers from one vendors PRI trunk to our PRI and our idcs500r2 system. (TEPRI) What is necessary for us to have the faxes route inbound and outbound using this number.

For inbound you would use MMC 714 to assign digits incoming to an extension.
For outbound on the fax, you would dial a trunk group (9 for instance) and dial the number. You could program that fax number into the fax to print out but the phone system would not id the trunk.

Thanks, As far as hardware is concerned, is it necessary to have a sli card or is it possible with a 16dli?

Well, let me think about that. Can you plug a fax into a 16 DLi card. Most people would say no, but the correct answer is yes, but.
You plug a single line daughterboard into the bottom of the phone and connect the phone to a 16 DLi.
Technically, the daughter board is not refered to as a card so you don't need a card but you do need a single line port. The fax can plug into a nearby phone's daughter board and you won't waste a slot or buy more ports than you need.
If you only need one single line port for the fax this is the best, cheapest way to go.
Daughter boards for the older 12 and 24 button phones are not the same as the newer 18 and 28 button phones so order appropriately.
Now truthfully how many of you looked at the question and said, of course you need a sli card?
We always should look at the end result requested not the obvious answer, that is why they pay us more than ditch diggers.

Correct me if I am wrong, but could you not use MMC 321 to associate the fax number to the CLI table and then use MMC 430 to associate that table with the PRI? A PRI will allow you to send outbound caller ID as long as your local service provider is expecting the information.

"Well, let me think about that. Can you plug a fax into a 16 DLi card. Most people would say no, but the correct answer is yes, but." You cannot install daughterboard cards on a 16 DLI card so that will not work.If you have an 8 DLI card then you could hook up a fax this way. Sorry Bunnie, back to digging ditches for you

ohhhhhh, Burned lol.
As a side note about faxes on PRI's. I recently set up a block of private fax DID's routed to an analog card (four ports set up with busy to the next extension) got that connected to a fax dialogic card in a PC and routed the faxes to each users desktops. It's sweet and works awesome. Couple that with email gateway and the user's are lovin it.

Sometimes pjv I try to stay up with the young whippersnappers and it works. This time you have me head bowed, feeling sheepish and looking for the shovel.
You got me on that one fair and square.

You could also setup the sli hot-line for 9, and set timer to 0 so no need to program "9" into fax machine..
