Hi all,
Does anyone know a way to access the actual audio files in user's voicemail inbox via FTP or some other file system method? Or any other way the audio files can be accessed through a custom application's code?
thanks in advance, johnny

Your best bet would be through the email if you have the option.I believe the actual message on the harddrive/flash card is in a proprietary format.

hmm we don't have the e-mail option, its actually what we're trying to do Grab the audio file and programmatically attach it to an email and email the user I guess we thought (hoped) there would be some kind of interface provided to access the file system is an email option built in somewhere as standard that we don't see?

thanks for your assistance so far pvj Our setup has a SVMi-8 (no 'e'), I can't find any reference to e-mailing with this model. Would this be right? It also has a LAN port which no documentation I can find refers (the documentation refers to a parallel port that we don't have, old doco I guess). So that seems to imply some LAN ability, but maybe just telnet? Again, we can't find anything that mentions it. regards

I think the Lan port is only there for programming from the Samsung tech support guys. Not for use by anyone else.

I think the LAN port on the SVMi-8 is for backup purposes only. I'm not sure you can access the file system through that port.As far as I know, you cannot access the file system through the serial port unless the SVM software is shut down.

you can access the file system and copy files with the serial port without shutting anything down.

Johnny, You are looking at an SVMI 8e but you have the technical documentation for an SVMI 8.
Yes the system can be accessed via a FTP client for back-up purposes but the audio format of the raw file is in a proprietary format. Additionally the way the file structure is set up in the SVMI it would be very difficult for you to associate the messages to the users.
However, if you install the latest version of the software, 4.1 or 4.2 then the voicemail has that feature already built in. It will work with any POP 3 e-mail server. By default you get the ability to use this feature for five users, however you can purchase a liscense key and get unlimited use from Samsung.
Chances are you don't see any reference to the programming of the e-mail gateway feature in your system because you have version 4.0 or earlier. This can be checked on System Wide Parameters PG 1. Hope this helps.
