Hello.

The call logs seem to be frozen and unable to record any any calls. Its not just isolated on 1 phone but rather on many different people’s phones. It will only show 1 call in the list and will not let me clear this call from clicking the clear button on the phone.

I have tried to delete the entire review block MMC 608 then placing more memory however it did not work.

Even when I delete the entire review block, it still shows that 1 call in the phone instead of showing “No Review block”. The call is absolutely frozen in the Call logs.

I'm not sure if its normal or relevant but when I deleted all the BINs, it only came out to 1450 instead of 1500.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this or why this is going on? I hope the system operating system is not corrupt.

Thanks for your help.

Wow.

This is usually the part where tech support tells you to back up the database and default the phone system to see if the problem occurs on a clean database. If so, there is a core software problem. If not, there is something else in the database causing it to occur.

Either way, there is probably not an answer that will make you happy. I hope its a small system!

If you can back up your database to a PC or onto the smart media card if it's idcs 100 or 500. Default the system. Check to see if the problem still exists. If not then try uploading the database and check again. If no problem then your in the clear. If you still have the problem then you may need to upload the database without mmc 608 checked. It does sound like you just have a corrupted database.

Oh Nooooooooo, that is what I feared! Well, I guess I should be asking the following questions.

1. How does a database get corrupted? Power outages during system use? Typing the wrong information during PCMMC, etc...

2. Is the corruption isolated to the Call logs such as MMC 608, MMC 609? Or can it spread like a disease and corrupt more value places in the database such as MMC 714, MMC 601, etc..?

I'm trying to ask if I'm on a ticking time bomb here with a particularly corrupted database.

3. MMC 811 with memory reset quick process with backup on computer using PCMMC software? Is it basically the normal reset time plus 5 minutes to upload the PCMMC database?
4. Do you know if the IP address of the system stays the same after the reset? In other words will you still be able to use the LAN connection for PCMMC after a complete memory reset?

Thanks for your help.

The IP address would probably be returned to default, so it would have to be reprogrammed via KMMC. Then the system would reboot again before you could use the LAN connection.

As far as how it happens - its a computer, anything can happen for no reason whatsoever.

It is reasonable to assume (if you haven't noticed any other problems) that the corruption is only related to the call logs in question. But every time something weird happens for the rest of your life you will have this nagging voice in the back of your head that wonders if it has something to do with that corrupt database!

In this situation, I prefer to overengineer, meaning I would back up the database using PCMMC or OfficeServ, power down the phone system, unplug the power cord, pull out the processor card turn off the memory switches, let everything cool down for 5 minutes, then turn the memory switches back on, re-insert the processor card, plug the system in, turn on the power, run program 811 to clear the memory again, and program only the parameters necessary to test the feature I am having trouble with. In this case it would require sending incoming calls to one or two extensions with CallerID enabled and activated for those extensions and on the system, then finding out if the review blocks are working normally. CAUTION... IF YOU ARE USING SVMi VOICE MAIL, YOU MAY WANT TO REMOVE IT FROM THE PHONE SYSTEM UNTIL ALL OF YOUR TESTING IS COMPLETE... YOU RUN THE RISK OF LOSING MAILBOX AND/OR MESSAGE INFORMATION WHEN YOU DEFAULT THE DATABASE.

IF things work normally after this, you have two options - upload your old database and see if the problem returns (saving you the time of setting everything up again), or program the rest of the system manually and see if the problem returns.

In order to save time and effort, you should list the system model and system software version you are dealing with... sometimes we have experiences with specific software revisions that would cause you to obtain an upgrade.

If you are still reading this, you must really be desperate (or maybe just curious). Anyway, good luck with it!

Just a note during a system default the IP address is the only thing that does not change back to default. It will stay what ever you programmed it to be.

Have you asked Samsung Tech Support (while it still exists) if your version of S/W had this bug?

If you are not a Samsung dealer, maybe another dealer will call in your software version. Samsung has released plenty of bad software revisions. Paige replaced two SmartMedia cards last week that were "unreleased" versions that should not have been sold. You could have the same problem and just updating the software is not that bad a deal.
