Hey folks need a little help here. I've got a Starmail on a DCS that I think the drive is going. The problem started after Wilma hit. With the power out for more that a week the system lost all programing as did many DCS's but the voice mail seemed to have come back up with no problem. After a couple of days the customer called and said that when transfering a message from one box to another if the mailbox DN had a (0) in it the system was saying 4(blank)6 instead of 406. The message would still transfer but you didn't hear the (0). Now the problem is getting worse. Messages are getting deleted and message transfer isn't working at all. Also if you transfer to say 225 it may say 369854. I think the drive is going. Would like your opinion. Also, can the drive be backed up and how. And could I then download the data to the new drive. If so what data would need to be rebuilt. Thanks in advance Roy

Usually a tell tale sign thta the harddrive is going out is when it just starts doing really weird things. Sounds like that is the case with what you are dealing with. If you need a new Starmail harddrive then give me a call.

You can reinitalize it by powering down and putting a port card in the farthest most slot (slot 5 but slots 3 & 4 may just have solder points not a real connector) and powering up. Once it stops buzzing and clicking after a few minutes, power down and put the card back in the first slot and power up.
If the drive is still funky after you reinitialize it, and program it, give me a buzz, we have solutions.
