Greetings,

We have a customer that has DSU2 and ESI Voiceworks voicemail. Has been running fine for years. Recently (OK, ever since one of our techs swapped two extensions) the MWI indicators have stopped functioning. The Voiceworks box emulates a digital telephone on DSU2 so there is no serial cable to sniff or analog port to monitor. Voicemail appears to otherwise function. With this digital telephone arrangement, there is only one physical port (cable pair) connected between DSU2 and Voiceworks box - that yields two logical ports. I've restarted both systems. No apparent change in programming. Tech says he didn't punch down anything on "2nd" voice port. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?
Cheers!
Mike

How did the tech "swap" the two extensions?

Also, did the tech do anything to the voicemail port, move it, or anything like that?

If the "swap" was done using logical/physical instead of actually moving cross-connects, I would go un-do that first.

Otherwise, have you been in the Voiceworks to check programming on the MWI programming? Unless the tech went in and changed something in the voicemail, I wouldn't suspect this as being the problem, but still worth asking.

The tech physically swapped cross-connects... extensions 13 & 26. Voicemail is using 22 & 23. Unfortunately, within voiceworks using digital interface, there is no configuration for MWI - it is hard-coded. It "feels" like the second port isn't working properly, yet there is no physical second port to troubleshoot. And when you call X23, system answers. I think we'll move the whole voicemail interface to another DSU port and reconfigure - maybe that will shake something loose.
Cheers!

Double check the programming on the two ports that the VW is using, to make sure the phone type didn't change.
