Hi all.
We have a shiny new OfficeServe 7200 in our office, and as a small company we are hoping it will be the first of many we install. I have a problem configuring the IP phone, when installed outside the office.
I go to MMC 840 and change the IP type to public or to Public with firewall, but this change will not save. Each time I go back in to look it is reset to private.
Does anyone have any clues for me.

Should I gather that no response means nobody can help me?
Did I post enough info, or is it just that I am a newbie here?

One thing you can learn fast is to appreciate that 1)you are in a different time zone than a lot of us on here 2)you are dealing with a new product that alot of us (me included) have never installed yet
I'm sure if someone else here has run into this before then they will post back.In the meantime are you a dealer? If you are have you tried Tech Support at Samsung?

Hi pvj. 1)Time zones are annoying and also patience is a virtue. I know! 2)I am aware that this is a new product, and I am willing to share whatever information I learn as I go along. I have just learned that this setting can be changed from the phone, but apparently not from the PC-MMC. 3)Yes, I am a dealer, or rather work for one. However, we are very little fish, we have to purchase through another dealer, who also provide us with support. However, I have yet to ask them a question they could answer, they pass the quesries on to Samsung and then about a week or so later we will get an answer, or more questions. Having solved this little problem I now have an IP phone in my remote office. I can dial extensions or outside lines and get connected. I can hear the person on the other end, but my voice does not reach them. this is an routing issue I am sure and I dont doubt that I can solve it. I have learned HUGE ammounts from this board already, and was just a little disapointed that my first post did not get a swift reply which solved all my problems ) Reality !

your mgi and the mcp have to be set for public with private for voice to feed both ways.
mmc 830,831,and 841 need to be checked
and programming from phone wont save until you back all the way out

Cheers Wrichey.
My colleague who has bee a phone guy for many years sorted the problem by setting 840 from a phone. I dont know why I could not save this change from the PC-MMC, but there you go. It's a new product. Proably a bug.
840 has 3 options, Private or Public or Public w/Firewall. I have opted for Public w/firewall, Seems sensible. I can now trace the voice packets from my phone and they are directed back to the public IP address of the office rather than the private one before this setting was changed.
My office router then redirects them to the MGI. but still no voice. I tried pointing them at the MCP instead, but no still no dice.
841 looks like integration with various optional extras like CTI server. I am hoping to get to play with that stuff later, but first job is to get the IP phone working outside.
I am going to try a different router in the office, as the current Netgear box thinks all VOIP voice packets are DOS attacks and blocks them unless I turn off that security feature.
I sure am glad this is not a customer install!

Ok here is how the scheme works.
a call from inside the office is made to the itp set it is started by the mcp and ten handed off to the mgi which does all of the communications. this work for both directions the same so if the itp phone calls in it talks to the mcp then gets handed off to the mgi to finnish the call.
mmc 830 and 831 both need to be set to private with public and the addresses in both areas need to match what the itp knows.
you will need a private ip and a public ip for both cards. it is preffered that they be static.
your routers need to forward ports 6000tcp/udp,6100tcp,9000rtp,rtcp and 9001rtp/rtcp on the switch side to both cards and on the phone side to just the phone's ip
mmc 840 is for the phone only

Well done wrichey! You might also need to set the codec to 729a and I have heard that sometimes you need to set the MGI to "use MGI" on each channel. You might try calling Samsung T/S you never know, they might help you

You also need to forward ports 30000 to 30031 to the mgi card, even ports are rtp and odd ports are rtcp. also I have a netopia at my office and the voip works great.
