i have a customer who moved into another building. customer a>i installed a 100 a little while back. they are a medical facility. open 5am-7pm. lines 701-704 which ring into group 501. customer b>regional office to customer a as well as other offices in the area. only open 8-5 and they leave frequently. lines 709-711 which ring into group 503. i expanded the 100 cabinet to handle the other phones etc.....no biggie. i need to be able to put both customers into day/night mode independently due to the hours both operate. samsung is telling me that i have to use the ring plan stuff. i can't buy that. if so i'd have to eat up 4 buttons for all the ring plan differences. ie: 1>a=day, b=day 2>a=day, b=night 3>a=night, b=day 4>a=night, b=night there has to be a better way than that. is there any other way i can do it so that customer a only has to hit a day/night button and customer b the same but it effect them the way it should? they are telling me that there is no way to tenant out the system. ![[Linked Image from users.telenet.be]](https://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoticons4u/mad/1018.gif)

Ahh, you are trying to say that Samsung did something stupid? The moderators don't like me to say things like that, so I'm glad you said it.
That said, it takes four buttons because that is what it takes to make it work and if you go into MMC 724 I don't believe you will see a dial code you can set up for a ring plan.
Maybe you could convince Samsung to write code to put that in MMC 724 and put authorization to change each RP in MMC 701. Good luck, I hear they are selling snowballs in hell for five cents each.
EVERY phone does not have to give up 4 buttons. You could put a 14 button strip on a 28 button phone very cheaply and give them MORE buttons. You could buy the oldest cheapest 7 button phone and take up a station port but that would still be more expensive.
Buy a 14 button addon (wana buy a used one for $17.99) and you have a cheap, easy solution where you can come out smelling like roses, unless of course you are one of those people who would rather have the thorns.

Another Solution that works fairly well in multiple day/night mode scenarios is to use a pilot phone. If the 709-711 trunks ring into a single ext, even if it only rings there for a second or so, you can then have that person put thier phoen into DND to simulate night mode. We call it the "pilot". Simply put mmc 316 external call fwrding to group 503 and then set mmc 102 DND fwrd to 519. Make sure to set mmc 406 to ring that ext day and night. In the SVMI you will have to set a line on the FWRD STATN menu to translate from the pilot ext number to a night menu.
Put a DND button on the pilot phone and label it night, and now you have essentially 2 independent night modes.

that doesn't make any sense, there isn't any external call forwarding in mmc 316, that is for preset no answer.

Bunnie, Please enlighten me as to who is holding the gun to your head to deal with Samsung?I know it's not me and it sure isn't them so just what makes you have to "deal" with the product? Maybe it's Elmer Fudd holding the gun?

Oh dear me, a foreign national who fails to understand the American First Amendment. Its best that you don't move down here and see all the demonstrations, and signs, and protest movements as a sign of American freedom as we have too many illegial aliens now and our freeways are too crowded to invite tourists that would further congest our ride to and from the office.
I have rechecked several times and it is a young man from Texas who was unhappy. (I think anyone living in Texas would be unhappy but that is beside the point.)
I gave him a very, very inexpensive solution and simply confirmed my opinion of his opinion and found no statement of dishonesty of any kind on my part. Should you find such, please advise immediately.
I think it is admirable that you have such dedication to Samsung management, and I encourage you to continue it. They should have a friend somewhere.
As this is a public forum, and as a cartoon character has joined the forum, and as I have welcomed the cartoon character to the forum on my behalf and not acting or pretening to act in concert with anyone else, I look forward with great anticipation to uplifting enlightenment from any and all cartoon characters.
It is a good thing I am not a cartoon character as I would choose to be Casper the Ghost and swoop around messing up the hair of installers and goosing them, perhaps even spilling their box of dry wall screws on the floor so they could play pickup without a woman in sight.
Hey pvj, just think of the fun I could have with you if I were invisible. Oh, I think I am getting excited, I'll stop now before I go too far.

While I appreciate your reply bunnie, you still haven't answered my question. Why are you selling and servicing Samsung if it's so bad?Or is this the case with every product line that you carry?

I sell anything that fits the customer's needs. Some people seem to think that selling a product means they should either be silent about management incompetence or say nothing but perhaps be quiet or just keep their mouth shut.
Some distributors such as STA can learn from suggestions but some don't. Some can't even learn from harsh criticism that is deserved.
Samsung does not have a dealer's forum, you know why? I proved Jason Beckett wrong when he took me on personally over the issue of no battery backup on the Compact due to his belief that it had to be attached to a metal section of the KSU. I proved him wrong. He took his forum and left promising to start it up in a month, better than ever.
He was a wimp that couldn't take the truth, I beat him, but he started the war, I finished it. Gavin might still be there if he hadn't sent me a "smoking gun" email that put Samsung in an untenable position. Oh Well!
Samsung makes some fine equipment on their robotic machinery. There is the quality factor. That does not mean the management ever had a clue of how to deal with the grunts that go out and sell the equipment and punch down the wires. In that they are a failure. Would you really like me to post a few examples, I think not.
A dealer in the valley booked non-refundable tickets for a Vegas rollout of new equipment. A week before the event, Samsung cancelled the event. When the dealer asked to be compensated for the airplane tickets he was told it was tough luck, no one at Samsung told him to buy plane tickets. Stupid, just plane dumb stupid treatment of a dealer that sells a lot of product. (Yes plane spelled that way was on purpose.)
I don't have to like jerks to sell a product that fits a customer's needs. I hope I have clearly explained my position. Anytime you would like me to go into more detail, boy could I overwhelm you with stories, but that might be considered jibah, kinda like jihad but with the beheadings.
For the record, I think most of the employees who work at Samsung earn their keep. It is the clueless executives who have wronged the dealers, and this is America and I don't have to like them and I don't have to keep my mouth shut. if the illegal aliens can close down the streets to say what they want to say, I can say what I want to say, even if some people want to call it jibah.
Hey benb, thanks for the suggestion, I'll pass.
I really would like to be Casper the Ghost and find pvj on a jobsite and pull his shorts up over his head while he is showing the customer what a great job he did. Oh that would be so sweet.
