how do i program the keys on my dcs-816 telephone?
i would like to make the 3rd button light up when line 1 is rining instead of the 8th button.

Hopefully you know how to get into programming and what the passcode is.
Once in, type in 722 (program 722) type in your extension number.
Use the arrow up button and see if 03 is 708 (button 3 is line 8). If so, type 03 701 [Spkr} [Transfer].
You should be set.
