Hi all
I have recently installed a OfficeServ 500 v 2.48 with a MGI3 v 2.58 and some ITP 51xx phones .All this phones are connected locally (LAN) and aver thing it OK. My question is the IDCS 500 and the ITP are 802.1q compliant ? Simply if Samsung Voip works with VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) .All the computers there share the same network wire with Samsung ITP and for the security reasons the client want to split data from voice .
Regards

I dont know if they support 802.1q or not. I have never tried that. what you can do though is put them on a different subnet. That more or less will do the same thing for you. Also, dont believe the hype. Phone systems are not a security risk for your network, especially if they are all on your lan.

Hi all
Ya I agree with BacherJr .The 500 isn’t a Skype p2p or a software server IP-Pbax and even more Samsung use for ITP phones a proprietary protocol . For the QoS I’ thing the MCP support TOS, at layer 2 using the Type of Service, a 3 bit field in the frame header .I’m right ? Again Thanks ,good work ,keep going .
Best regards

Check out the 7400 series. You can use GPLIM's that are fully managed and can use 802.1q on a per port basis to segment VLANs. I don't think they can handle trunking to automatically assign devices into the correct ports yet. They might be able to use MAC addresses to assign devices into different vlans.
