Hi.

I have a very simple questions about the door phone for an iDCS 100.

The instruction claim (page 75 of idcs 100 R2 installation manual diagram) that:

P(-) connect black wire
P(+) connect Red wire
L1 connect Green wire
L2 connect Yellow wire

My confusion is on the positive/negative issue. My understanding is that:

1.Black wire is POSITIVE (aka TIP) and is being asked to be connected into P- which I assume is NEGATIVE.

2.Red wire is NEGATIVE ( aka Ring) which is being asked to be connected into P+ which I assume is POSITIVE.

P(-) connect black(+)
P(+) connect Red(-)
L1 connect Green wire(+)
L2 connect Yellow wire(-)

IS THIS CORRECT? (+) to (-) contact?????

I know that the system manual may have been translated into English from another language and I was wondering if I am reading this correctly.

If anyone has setup a door phone and has any idea on how the correct way to do this or if the manual is right. I would sure appreciate it.

So all the samsung documentation is totally wrong? I guess they had another company build the doorbells and they don't know how they are wired.


The normal 2 pair wires are

1. Yellow
2. Green
3. Red
4. Black

instead of

1. black
2. Red
3. Green
4. Yellow


Please let me know what is going on here. I spent amost 2 full days trying to figure this out and reading on how door wiring works from different manuals.

If you know how this door phone is suppose to go, I would sure appreciate you helping me out. This is really driving me crazy.

The problem that you have here is that you are looking at line cords, which reverse, not the actual pins. Use a mod tool to make your own end. make a 4 conductor end that looks like this:

Pin 1 W/Or
Pin 2 W/BL
Pin 3 BL/W
Pin 4 Or/W

then terminate the other end like this:

W/Or -> P-
W/BL -> P+
BL/W -> L2
Or/W -> L1

all that matters is that the pins positions line up with the terminals on the door phone. The colors do not matter, and if you already have a cable that you have made, then simply look at the end of it, see which colors are on which pins and then follow the above guide.

To stream-line things, forget the colors. All that you need to do is make this happen:

Pin 1 -> P-
Pin 2 -> P+
Pin 3 -> L2
Pin 4 -> L1

The book is correct. Bacherjr explained it better than the book does.

Thanks Bacherjr for all the great ideas. I really appreciate the effort you have made.

I guess the part I'm a little confused about is how your suppose to pair the connections(P-,P+,L2,L1)

Is P+ suppose to be pair with L2?
and
Is P- suppose to be pair with L1?

or

P+ pair with L1
and
P- pair with L2

Pin 2 and pin 3 are a pair?(P+) and (L2)
Pin 1 and pin 4 are a pair correct? (P+) and (L1)

Normally:

Door phone>>>>2 pairs>>>>DPIM>>>>1 pair>>>PBX

The 1 pair going into the PBX are normall the pair on pin 2 and pin 3(P+,L2) in this case.

Does this sound correct?

The offiserve manuals shows in the diagram (P+,L1) going into the system from the DPIM

So I guess another question is does:

1. P+,L2 into the KSU
or
2. P+,L1 into the KSU ?

Please let me know your ideas.

When I tried it before, I heard a very loud feedback sound that came screaming from the door phone. I guess I must of had it wired wrong.

Please let me know as soon as you can.

Are you showing pin 2(P+)/pin 3(L2) as 1 pair which goes to the DPIM in the 2 pair wiring, then from DPIM into the KSU as 1 pair?

If so, then even without worrying about the colors, this is still different than the book which say P+ and L1 are going into the KSU.

Please let me know if you are able to look in the manual? Ii'm looking on page 75 in my idcs 100 R2 installation manual and as well as the diagram and page 115 in the offiserv 500 installation manual.

They both show P+ and L1 as the 2&3 pin which connect the system to the doorbell system.(instead of L2)

Please let me know if you can take a quick look.

I guess its a L1 vs L2 issue as to what connects into the system.

Nothing from the door phone goes into the system. Simply use the wiring that I described earlier between the door phone and the DPIM and then connect tip and ring from a DLI port to the other port on the DPIM.

DPIM has 3 ports, 1 input from system, 1 output to door phone, 1 relay for opening a door.

Right. The DPIM is what connects to the system.

Door phone >>>pin 1,2,3,4>>>DPIM>>>>pin 2&3>>KSU

So, with this configuration
Pin 1 -> P-
Pin 2 -> P+
Pin 3 -> L2
Pin 4 -> L1

Are pins 2 & 3 a pair?

Are pins 1 & 4 a pair?

short answer is yes. If you use a standard pinout for the mod end, then 2&3 will be g/r and 4&1 wil be b/y.

long answer is that they dont have to be. They just have to be the same conductors that you connect to the door phone. colors and pairs do not matter.
