Hello everyone.
I was thinking it might be easier to set things up using the PCMMC software and be able to save the programming. I am trying to connect with a cross over cable directly into the iDCS 100 R2 Ethernet port.
I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the settings.
My computer LAN connection properties via
Right click on “ my network places†right click on “ LAN connectionâ€> click “ propertiesâ€> double left click on Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)
Use the following connections
IP Address 165.213.97.010 Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0 Default gateway 165.213.97.1
There are my computer settings:
On MMC 830, I have set the PCMMC IP address to 165.213.97.15 and geteway to 165.213.97.1
On the PCMMC software, I set it to connect with the LAN connection with the setting 165.213.97.15
Please let me know what I have done wrong or how you are suppose to set this thing up.
Does this look correct to you?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Its correct but how is the connection from the pc to the system? if its a direct link then the crossover cable is fine. If its connected through a switch on the network then you need a standard cable.

You would be correct in both setups. I have done both.

Well yes if you static both the pc and the switch you can talk with a hub or a crossover but you cant talk with a hub and a crossover unless you are in the uplink port.

first of all, check link lights on your computer. If you are using a cross-over cable, and are directly input to the switch, then you should have link lights, and those link lights indicate good connection on both sides. Otherwise, check your switch/hub for link lights. Next, Ping the switch from your laptop. you can access this by using Run from the start menu and typing CMD or command to get a command prompt, then type "Ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx -t" this will start a continuous ping. If you have 10 successful pings then you are good. If you get no pings, then reset your KSU. If you still cant ping then re-address your switch or system or both. If you get only 5 or 6 pings back then reset the KSU. After a IP address change the switch will sometimes reply to a few pings, but will need a reset. If you have all successful pings but still cannot connect then it may be a security problem with the PC you are running. XP Home, and certain firewalls CAN, but dont always cause problems with OfficeServ. Last thing to do is to download the latest OfficeServ software and patches from www.samsunggsbn.com . Sometimes a version mismatch can prevent it from communicating.
