I have a customer with an older DCS V4.5 software. They have the caller ID cards (A1 &C1). When I set-up programming calls come up No CID display or close to that. What is strange is while I had this programmed One phone (the only one programed to ring) stoped forwarding calls to voice mail. I turned off the CID and that fixed that problem. I looked in the manuals and see in one spot about software upgrade but nothing to expain it further. Could someone please fill me in on this. Also if anyone could PM me with pricing on that as well as a new voicemail card. They have an old Candance that is dying. Thank you
Stephanie

Are calls ringing Straight to the AA in the cadence or directly to a station group or extension? Have you tested the CID from the carrier using a simple CID box or CID phone? I've seen wierd problems when trunks are set up for CID and there's none comming in over the line. The system waits for the CID info and sometims gets confused when it receives none. Also it depends on if the CID is basic or enhanced. If the extensions are all set to display the name and they only have basic CID it will show NoCID I beleive. Since basic only gives you the number and not the name. Just a few things I thought of. I don't think you need a software upgrade though I can't remember what the glitches in v4.5 were. I think the last version made for the DCS was 4.6.

CID works fine at the D-mark. It is enhanced as both name and number come over. I am trying to get the customer to upgrade the system as they only have room for one more trunk. From what I read to expand it with caller ID is pretty pricy. I haven't worked with the DCS and caller ID so learning curve here. Thanks benb

Expanding the system is as easy as adding a trunk card A1,B1 or C1.They will give you 2,4 or 8 more trunks.Does the system have an Expansion A1 card ?That is what is needed for the Caller ID to work.It would be in the 6th slot in the main cabinet. If you don't have one then it won't work.Yes 4.6 was the last software version made.

Customer is out of slots on the system and no they do not have an A1 card. Will the 4.6 work with the new SVMI voice mails? And other then the A1 & C1 trunk cards, is anything else needed for caller ID? Thanks again. Stephanie

The expansion A1 card and any trunk card A1,B1 or C1 are all that is required for caller ID.If you're out of slots then you will need to add an expansion cabinet to add the Expansion A1 card into the main cabinet an expansion cabinet with an Expansion B card and a power supply. This sysetm is discontinued so you may want to look at changing the cabinet out to an Officeserv 500 and reuse most of the cards and the phones.

If they are pretty stable in how many stations they will need, you might be able to put in an Expansion A1 and some daughter boards to stay in one cabinet.

Just be carefull with the svmi product in the DCS. Although the DCS can handle the svmi's it can act quirky. And yes I just used the word quirky. I didn't put many in though the ones I did put in had misc. problems here and there. You could probably turn this whole thing into a sale on an upgraded system telling them they could keep all of thier phones, most of the cards and save a lot for a newer system that can do Voip.
