Not to get into rudimentary questions here, but 1)Is ext. 7858 an analogue extension? and 2)Is it something where you simply need to put a "9" in front of the dial string? I have set up a fax amchine on a samsung iDCS 500 on an analog ext. for outbound faxing and had no problems or special paramaters to set, might check your setup.

Oh, and I forgot to add, it was on a PRI too, don't want to start confusion.

PRI should not be relevant the evices on the system just see the PRI ports as co lines.

The fax machine must be connected to an SLI (analogue) port in the switch. Try connecting a buttset to it or a single line phone to see if you can dial an extension on the switch. Do you have a dial 9 trunk group setup?

Please clarify what you mean it doesn't work. Does it grab dial tone? Can you dial 7858 from another extension and does it ring? What does the display on a digital telephone say if you dial 7858? (Ringing or Plug Out)

Data and fax transmissions on PRI circuits can be prone to failure if there are slips occurring. Slips are not usually noticed on voice calls. This is usually caused due to clocking issues with your equipment. I have seen this same thing occur with many different systems, all with the same result. Is it dialing, sounding like it connects, but ends up failing? If so, there's the fault.

just a thought. Is the port set up for hot line dialing MMC 306 to auto dial the 9? And is the PRI providing and dial tone before digits are sent on it. Of course the dial tone is simulated by the CO. A lot of Fax machines simply won't send out if they don't detect any sound (dial tone) on the line connected. Here's a question. What happens if you plug a regular analog phone into the fax extension or into the jack and try to dial out?

Is this a TEPRIA card? If so what is the software rev on it(look in mmc 727). If its 4.14 you will have fax troubles you need to call samsung tech support and they will replace it with one with rev 4.15 software on it.

You can upgrade the PRI card by using MMC 818
