We have a new site with (2) 8 Port trunk cards. It seems that sometimes the lines are not releasing after a disconnect. I am going to swap the cards in the slots and see if the problems follows to the 2nd card. I asked Verizon if they had disconnect supervision turned on and have not heard back as of yet. Any one see this?

You can't trust Verizon to confirm that disconnect supervision is being sent. I assume that you are dealing with the former GTE area. Make sure that you ask them to verify that "cancel on disconnect" is active. You really need to test for this on your own because what their records indicate and what is actually happen can often be different.

I am going to pull the bridge clips and see what happens. The lines are coming in on FIOS and I don't know if there are issues with it. First business I have seen to get trunks in this way.

What the hell is FIOS?

I know that when I moved, I had foreign exchange lines so I wouldn't lose my number and they could not pass caller ID on the foreign exchange lines.

My lines are on Voip and I can take them anywhere, much better than relying on gag Verizon gag.

Mike Sandman has a device that will show you if you are getting a disconnect, it is about $45 and I used it to beat gag Verizon gag into submission and fix my circuit.

FIOS in our area (Fort Wayne, Indiana) does not have CPC (calling party control), or called open loop disconnect. VZ is not sure how to get this fixed. I couldn't be happier.

Since we're also a CLEC, we sell our voice product to customers that want their stuff to work. With Vonage or any other SIP provider that uses the Cisco/Sipura/Linksys analog adapters, this service is not turned on by default.

In the PAP-2 (or even the newer Cisco branded devices, you need to be able to get to the admin login, then advanced, then the regional tab.

This is in the web interface, and we usually use the value of CPC delay 2, CPC duration 4. If this is too vague, then google "configuring your PAP2NA". FIOS does not use the PAP, and I list this only as a reference point.

I can check with our FIOS tech to see if he has any update. We are gaining customers from VZ who don't want 5 minutes of off hook tone recorded into their VM.

I feel your pain, but I found a way to make it pay off.
Is this not a great country!?!

We have increased the hunt group by one line and it seems to be enough for the trunks to hang up.
I haven't heard of any complaints this week, but I know it is still happening.

We have had something similar to this happen to us before. In the morning the customer would come back to the office to see their voice mail full of messages. When you listen to the messages it is just the "please hang up and try your call again" stuff.

The problem turned out to be that the provider (in this case Logix) was not providing the right disconnect signal and therefore we were not seeing the disconnect. They were just sending a quick short on the lines or something and it wasn't working. So they switched carriers to AT&T and they have never had the problem again.
