have a customer with dataview. works great for the most part. all of a sudden for no reason it will stop. most of the time it happens at least once a week. sometimes 2 times. 99% of the time it will get an error code of 1099. 1 time it got an error of 1022. to fix it the customer shuts down dataview, link, & collector, then re-starts them all back up. everything will be fine until the next episode.
link, dataview & collector all are on a win2003 server with iis. versions: link=2.2.0.4 june 8,2006 dataview manager=1.5 colletor=1.5 mcp=6.7.20 L2.66 scp=05.05.20 V2.15

Is it a dedicated server for Dataview or is it also running other apps? Have you tried just upgrading link to the newest version? I have had some problems with link versions and call playing nice together.

no it is their main server. there are other things running on it.
and no i haven't tried to update anything. i did notice the newer version of link. but he dataview & collector just say 1.5 not 1.5.x so i'm not sure if an update is needed there or not.
what's the process of updating link? am i going to have to uninstall dataview then link then re-install link then data view & re-configure everything all over again? that would certainly NOT be very fun as it took me 1/2 day to set it all up the 1st time.
and 2nd question kinda related........they also have an issue if they have to reboot their server, dataview/link will only pick up 10 agents in the ucd groups. they have to delete them then re-add them using OSM before link/dataview "sees" them again. samsung said that this was a known issue but i don't know if it was ever resolved. does the newer version of link fix this?

It might be possible that the server at times is getting too loaded down and may be causing the problem, only a guess on my part without knowing what is running at the time. Have you talked with tech support about the error #1099? Perhaps that may shed some light on the problem. I would try installing the new version of link first before uninstalling/reinstalling dataview. As long as you note the IP and any other setings you have customized in link first, it is a painless reinstall. As for the UCD agent problem - to my knowledge that problem has not been resolved and the new version of link does not adress that issue.

Thefraz is correct. That's why I thought it was a memory error. I had it happen a long time ago also but couldn't remember the details. Too many things running and it goes to sleep. The update is simple. Contact TS and they will email you the patch. It's just a .exe file. Note the IP and license key just in case. TS won't touch it till it gets the latest software.

The license is based on the mac address of the mcp,so the process would be the same as when you first installed link, etc. I always have the customer use a seperate pc for the apps - keeps the problems isolated. Make sure you uninstall from the current server first before connecting the new pc into the network and starting link. Also, do not put IE7 on the new pc, it has a known issue playing nice with samsung products.
