System: ICDS 100 MCP: V2.66, MGI3: V3.60, SVMI4e: V4.01, TEPRI: V1.07 SCP V1.06
Modem: US Robotics 33.6K (white case) Programmed at 38.4K with initialization string.
Problem: Can not connect to modem for VM Remote Access, nor can I dial out thru PRI to get to another modem at another site. Have tried using newer TEPRI card w/V4.15 with same result. The modem answers and sometimes you see data but the screen is chopped and will drop after a few seconds. Have messed with different baud rates with the same result. This is the only 100 I have with this problem. It is networked to another identical system which does not have the problem.
Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Have you tried a different modem to test? I have had trouble with modems and faxes on a PRI once in a while - there is a tech bulletin on the GSBN website regarding the modem config, I saw it a week or so ago. I'll see if I can find it again. Also try setting MMC 223 (ISDN SRV)to modem for the sli port.

I've tried at least 3 different modems. MMC 223 is already set for for modem, so I also tried it set to voice with the same result. But remember, I also can not use a single line port from the system to call someone else's modem either. Almost like it's a PRI issue. But I have another site with PRI same config that works fine.

Do they have a fax on a sli? Do you have MMC 208 set to data ring? Can you call sli to sli inside? Is MMC 103 set to ring mode? Do you get the same result calling from sli to another modem outside as you do calling into the svmi sli? Do they have any other problems placing calls thru the pri?

No fax. I tried changing MMC 208 to data ring, no change. sli to sli internally works fine the modem communicates fine. MMC 103 does not apply to sli ports. There are no other issues with the PRI. Calling to other modems gives the same result. The modem answers and stays online for less than 30 sec. No data is transmitted. If you send me a personnel email I'll send to the modem DID and you can try it yourself.

Is this one of the new dynamic allocation T1's? If it is, then that's where the issue is. I have seen it at 3 different sites. The compression thing is getting you. POTS will be the only way to fix it.

We are also trying to connect to a SVMI-4E with a external USR modem using the technical document on the GSBN. No luck.

Just going back through old posts since I am new and thought I might be able to help on this topic. As stated above, it is most likely compression on the T1. See if you can get the provider to drop the compression on one channel. We ran into this problem and the provider dropped the compression on a specific channel. We now connect via that channel.
Hope this helps!

Throughput on Samsung SLI ports maxs at 9600. I would try dropping the baud. Or start simple. Start with laptop modem onsite. Confirm the connection, then backup to sli to modem. Then SLI onsite going out and back in over their PRI. If that works, then then you should be fine from remote unless your remote carrier is jacked.
