I am sdding a third expansion cab to a dcs, and i need to know if I can hookup the data cable to the second cab.and power the third cab. or should I power down the whole system ?

It won't blow anything up to plug it in live, but the cabinet may not come up correctly. Usually if the expansion cabinets are not available when the MCP boots they won't be sensed. I'd say the safer bet is to power it all down and bring it back up. More of a pain, but more reliable...
