Ben, What model is this box

Sorry, been really crazy this week. It's made by a company called Avocent and the device says Equinox ESP-2 MI. Pretty small box too. Has one ethernet port and two DB9's on it.

I finally got around to testing the IP to serial box and it works great. Took a little while to get the settings right but once I had it set up worked great! Now you can have a solution for those call accounting systems that only work with serial connections using this box.

I've used boxes like those with some old Unix systems. Thanks for the follow-up.

Any hints on setting up the Avocent ESP-2 OPTO? We can see the data is being transmitted via IP to the correct IP address of the Avocent box (by plugging it a notebook into the network IP static that is set up for the Avocent), but are having little luck getting anything out of serial Port 1. We set it up for 9600, n81, xon/xoff because that is what the Equitrac 'Pagecounter' box wants to see. The Avocent listening port is set to 5100 /MCP IP.

This Avocent box unfortunately has a female 8-pin plug, not DB9s

Got it working after about a million setting changes and resets . I hate serial stuff.
