Got a client with a G0816 and was wondering if there's a good reason to use his analog devices (fax, credit card, dial-up modem) with an ATI-D instead of simply using CO line sharing, as it's wired now?

Other than the obvious reason that putting the analog devices on an extension minimizes the chance that they can be left off-hook and render a CO line unavailable to other extensions.

All this is assuming I can locate an ATI-D!

I ran a 1632 for years with a line share device and had a ATI-D for cordless phones. Neither my 1632 nor your 816 has fax detect so leave the line share connected.
