I've recently installed a few systems with voicemail and they work ok apart from not being able to fwd a group to voicemail. For example I want to put 6 extns in a normal group in RP1 and when RP2 comes into effect in the evening I simply want a group mail box that will record messages that all 6 extns can access via a programmable key. Discuss ?? :bang:

Set group 501 for normal RP1 working. Set 502 with overflow of 1 second, next port to voicemail group and make sure that all 6 people are in that group.
Set all phones up with a mw502 key

Thanks mate, i should have said but i've kind of done that, but the only way it would work is if there is an extn in group 502. It wont fwd to vm unless that extn rings 1sec. This works ok for the customer at the moment but if they all have ddi in the future then that extn in group 502 will conflict won't it? What I really need to do is to be able to fwd an empty group......I think?

Do as KX-T308 says, you need the required extns in the group so they get new msg indications on the phones. If you don't want the phones to ring for that 1 second, (quite annoying) set the group to be sequential and put a virtual extn (eg.3501) as first member in group.

The 6 extn's only need to be in the group if you are using a vg key for the messages otherwise as leemc1978 said, use a virtual extn number as the only member of the group and overflow to vm, then put MW keys on the 6 phones, this way the phones will not ring at all. Of course the other way to do it is to set RP2 to ring direct to vm and then use either the forward menus or night main menu to direct the call to a mbx.
