Hello, This is my first time here and hope you guys can help me out. I know i will be spending alot more time here in the future.

I have taken on a SysAdmin postion and have to support this phone and VM system. I have had experience with Avaya in the past but it was nothing like Samsung's product.

I am rebuilding a new domain and changing the IP scheme and need to figure out how to change the IP of the SVMI-8E. I can not find it anywhere, is it hidden somewhere? I have tried using the OS Manager and telnet'n into the SVMI-8E but can't find anything on the IP for it. Please help, i have been working on this domain change-over for the last 2 months and planned it for this weekend, this is the only thing holding me back...HELP!!!

Thanks in Advance!!!

I am not sure how to change the IP of the voicemail but I think MMC xxx has the IP on other areas of the phone system.

Haven't recieved any PMs yet, But i think i found what i had to do.

Telnet into the SVMi-8E and i have to shut down the system and drop into DOS mode.
Edit C:\sockets.cfg
change the socket there to the correct IP then exit and restart it.

Am i correct?

samsungsystemsreturns: MMC xxx has the IP setting of pretty much everything else, other then the VSMi-8E. Also the MGI IP can not be set there. Is there any other IPs that would need to be changed other then what is on MMCxxx, SVMi-8E and MGI?

Thank you, very much. I have another question for you guys. I am not sure exactly what these IPs are for but there are 3 of them set.

I have figured out what the SVMi-8E is, but what is MGI and also what are the Ethernet settings on this for?

We have a T1 for the phone lines and all of the phones in the office are hard wire, so i am pretty sure that these will work if i unplug all ethernet cables going to the iDCS500's cards. I have only been in this company for a couple months but not much seems to be interfacing with the samsung. I am wondering if we have these setup for features that we are not using at the moment.

Thanks again for the help.

You have three data cable splugged into the system? or you have three adresses programmed to route to the system?

The mgi card is there so remote IP users can access the system from their locations. This requires the MCP aswell for connection setup.

Changing these IP addresses will affect remote users so you need to make sure they are being routed correctly.

None of the system features are related to the mgi except phones or trunk connectivity.

I would not unplug anything until you know what is going on. You havent been there long enough and may loose your job if you disconnect the Boss's phone

The boss is aware of what i am doing and we only have one remote IP user. I actually have 4 data cables plugged into the system.

One goes into a card labeled;
TEPRI
MGI2
SVI18
MCP2

Could you tell me what these acronyms mean? it might be easier to find information on them, that way.

I believe the remote user will be all set, we have a rule set in our Sonicwall that we will be changing.
