We are having a problem with one of our OS7100's. There was a Comdial system immediately before this system and it was not having the problem for whatever reason. About 7 our of 10 times when the receptionist answers she hears about one second of a screeching noise then it clears up and she can talk. We have replaced the trunk card and this is not happening at the demark. Anyone have any ideas?

Just thinking out loud here.
Does it only happen on her phone? Does it only happen to her? Can you do a call pickup from another phone and it happens? Could it be some form of feedback? Hearing Aid or some other nearby device? This may seem odd but I had a case once where it was the womens makeup causing a reflective signal back into the handset making it screech.
Anyway some of my thoughts

Good thoughts. I will check these things out and let you know the answer. I'm not the one that installed the system so I am just relaying the problem.

Also tinker with the trunk gain settings.
Plus see if the trunks are too hot. Meter them. See MikeSandmanDOTcom for instructions on testing to see if the analog trunks are hot. First clue is close proximity to the C.O.

Just a thought could it be Caller ID info? I had a customer complain of this and figure out that if they answered the call between the first and second they would here the data. Also maybe the Comdial system absorbed the first ring so they didnt notice it. Hope this helped.
