Before when I would hit the vt key all I had to do is enter the extension and it would go to their voicemail. Now, when I hit the key it's saying enter group number. Is there a configuration that could have been changed?

I have a dcs 50 and cadence voicemail.

Yes, you have lost the extender from the end of the VT key.
Dial transfer 107 from the phone in question and press the 'VT' key, add the cadence group onto the end and press transfer again.
That should do it.

What group did you add in as the key extender?Usually it would be 529.

so what I did was in mmc 723 set the key 18 to vt529. when an outside call comes in and you hit the key it asks what extension. When you enter an extension it pauses for a minute then I get. Sorry please try again.

What's strange is I can dial 529 and I get the cadance and if someone dials from outside and gets the aa they can hit an extension and leave a message.

The VT key seems the only piece that's not working?

Thanks for any assistance.

Is this on all phones or just one station? MMC723 will work if you selected the correct model. Have you verified that the phone your testing from does in fact have now a VT529 key.

As pvj said, are you sure your voicemail is group 529?

I have never ran into this problem, maybe some of these other techs have and can reply back with a more educated answer than what I am about to give you.

1)I would look at the Port Monitor in the voicemail as your using the VT529 key and see what its doing.
2)Maybe a reset?

This is going to sound pretty simple but I need some clarity.

When you press the vt key while on an incoming call you dial the extension then hang up? or you stay on the line and wait for the box greeting?

Also are you sure that a box is setup for the extension. If the extension is set to no box in the 700 mmc's the Cadence will not flow to a box even if it exists. Check that first then post back.

Thanks for all your help thus far.
I think we may be onto something.
When I hit the VT key then the extension. I hear the on hold music and then i get the message back on the phone. Sorry please try again!.

As far as if the extension is set to no box. I was looking in the 700 mmc's and didn't see that designation.

However, I know the extensions have a box cause if I dial 529 cadance picks up and asks Please enter your access code. Also, if you dial in from an outside line and get the AA and then dial an extension it goes to that phone and rings and after the set time cadance picks up. I don't know why the vt key would be using a different route to get to cadance. Unless I'm programming it wrong. going into mmc 722, picking the key, selecting vt, soft scrolling over putting in 529. I mean that should be it right?
